Paul Abney, 88, of 147 Karen Ann Lane, Carrier Mills, IL died Friday August 26, 2011 at 2:11 PM at Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg, IL. Funeral services will be held Monday August 29, 2011 at 1 PM at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Monday after 11 am until service time. Reverend Mike Hood will officiate. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Benton, KY; Graveside services will be held Thursday September 1, 2011 at 2 PM. All friends and family should meet at the cemetery. Filbrck-Cann & King Funeral Home in Benton, KY will be assisting the family with burial. He was born on September 3, 1922 in Raleigh, IL to the late Harry & Prudence (Choosier) Abney. He married Opal Hubbs on June 10, 1986 and she survives. Paul was a Navy veteran serving in World War II. He was a retired coal miner; he also was a handyman, truck driver, and worked as a policeman in Harrisburg, IL. He is survived by his wife: Opal Abney of Carrier Mills, IL; Son: David Paul Abney of Downey, CA; Daughter: Nancy Lynn Johnson of Long Beach, CA; Stepchildren: Nina Clark of Paducah, KY; Frankie Jones of Marion, IL; Lisa Henderson of Gilbertsville, KY; Bonnie Ross of Colorado Springs, CO and Michael Jones of Calvert City, KY; Sister: Maxine “Mickey” Irvin of Louisville, KY; 19 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.
