Gene D. Dunning

Gene D. Dunning, 76, of Coal City, IL formerly of Carrier Mills, IL died Monday October 29, 2012 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, IL. Funeral services will be held Saturday November 3, 2012 at 11 am at Palestine Social Brethren Church near Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 pm at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery. He was born on February 27, 1936 in Mitchellsville, IL to the late Henry and Lettie (Dunn) Dunning. He married Bonnie L. Wilkins on April 24, 1956 and she preceded in death on February 14, 1993. He retired from Caterpillar, Inc in Joliet, IL, following 30 years of employment. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of the Rod and Gun Club in Morris, IL. Surviving are 3 sons: Dennis Dunning and Phillip Dunning both of Sheboygan,WI and James (Janice) Dunning of Morris, IL; 7 grandchildren; 2 sisters: Isabel Berrong of Gardner, IL and Carol (Orville) Stergill of Omaha, IL and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and 3 brothers: Donald Dunning, Darrel Dunning and Randall Dunning.
