Mavis Sturman, 87, of 108 West Walnut Street, Carrier Mills, IL; died Saturday December 29, 2012 at 11:30 am at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday January 1, 2013 at 1 pm at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Tuesday after 11 am until service time. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, IL; Reverend Dewayne Taylor will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Dorrisville Baptist Church Missions fund. She was born on May 14, 1925 in Cambell, MO to the late Fred and Rosa Belle (Lamunion) Elder. She married William L. Sturman on June 27, 1953 in Corinith, MS and he preceded in death on April 9, 1978. She was a retired seamstress working at Harrisburg Manufacturing (aka) the Cap Factory. She also attended Dorrisville Baptist Church. She is survived by a Daughter: Linda Paul of Carrier Mills, IL; Son William (Lois) Sturman of Harrisburg, IL; 4 grandchildren: Traci (Jeff) Babcock of Mt. Olive, IL; Miranda (Jeff) Cain of Eldorado, IL: Josh Paul and Jake Paul both of Carrier Mills, IL; 3 Great Grandchildren: Dmitri Evans, Daniel Evans and Cooper Cain; 2 Sisters: Norma Lindsay of Carrier Mills, Il and Novella Keener of Dyer, IN and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Leroy Elder, Hobert Elder and Hershel Elder; and a grandchild: Melissa (Billy) Evans and a nephew: David Lollis.
