Alan Henry Janaskie, 68, of 200 Blue Earth Lane, Harrisburg, IL died Wednesday January 9, 2013 at 6:50 am at his residence. Memorial Services will be held Monday January 14, 2013 at 11 am at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. There will be no visitation but friends may gather at funeral home after 10 am. Reverend Joe Poriot will officiate. Military rites will be held by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and the National Guard Ritual Team. He was born on April 20, 1944 in Shamokin, PA where he was raised by his grandparents: Paul and Clara (Ross) Janaskie. He married Ruth Eppelheimer on June 20, 1964 and she survives. He retired after 20 years of service from the United States Air Force where he served during the Vietnam War. He also retired from Boeing Aircraft where he worked as a Quality Assurance Inspector. He was a member of the Harrisburg Lighthouse Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the Califorinia City, California VFW. One of his favorite pastimes was he loved collecting O Gauge model trains. He is survived by his wife: Ruth Janaskie of Harrisburg, IL; 3 Children: Stephanie (Keith) Smith of Lancaster, CA; Paul (Kelly) Janaskie of Carrier Mills, IL and Alan Janaskie Jr. of California City, CA; 3 grandchildren: Jacob Janaskie, Summer Janaskie and Jennifer Holmlund; and 3 sisters and a brother.
