William “Bill” Gulledge, 100, of 311 West Walnut Street, Carrier Mills, IL; died Friday February 15, 2013 at 9:32 pm at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 23, 2013 at 11 am at Carrier Mills United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 pm at Felty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery with military rites by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and the National Guard Burial Ritual Teams. Reverend Stan Irvin and Reverend Joey Dunning will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Carrier Mills/Stonefort High School Athletic Department or the Carrier Mills United Methodist Church Youth or Children’s Ministries. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Bill was born on December 9, 1912 in Ledford, IL to the late William & Cyntha (Gaddis) Gulledge. He married the former Wilma Matthews on December 12. 1936 in Harrisburg, IL she preceded in death on March 25, 2006. He worked at General Motors as a Journeyman Machine Repairman until his retirement in 1976. He then came back home and started driving a school bus for Carrier Mills High School until 1988. Bill was a US Army Veteran of World War II; he was the oldest member of the Carrier Mills United Methodist Church joining in 1936. He was also a former member of the Carrier Mills/Stonefort School Board and former member of the Carrier Mills Village Board. He was a member of the United Auto Workers. Bill’s greatest loves was his family and children as well as playing the harmonica, whether it be at church or during the annual Carrier Mills/Stonefort Grade School Veterans program. Bill was also one of the most avid St. Louis Cardinals and Carrier Mills/Stonefort Wildcats Fan. He is survived by: Son: Terry (Cheryl) Gulledge of Jacksonville, FL; Son In Law: Bob Kieper of Carrier Mills, IL; Grandchildren: Lori Fox of Bowling Green, KY; Lynn (Greg) Baber of Monmouth, IL; Lisa (Brent) Potts of St. Peters, MO; Terre (Robert) Dawkins of Marion, IL; Robbie (Mike) Furlong of Harrisburg, IL; Kellie (Randy) Huckleberry of Carrier Mills, IL and Michelle (Kevin) Freddenburg of Jacksonville, FL; 17 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife: Wilma Gulldege, Daughter: Jo Kathryn Kieper and several Brothers and Sisters.
