Larry Wayne Adams, 71, of 740 Carrier Mills Road, Harrisburg, IL passed Saturday October 17, 2015 at 3:09 pm peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 20, 2015 at 2 pm at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday after 1 pm until service time. Burial will be in Sunset Garden Cemetery in Harrisburg, IL with military rites by the Carrier Mills American Legion, Harrisburg American Legion and the Army National Guard Ritual Team. Reverend Derek Downs and Reverend Brent Holloway will officiate. Larry was born on December 20, 1943 in Carrier Mills, IL to the late Gene and Helen (Hanna) Adams. He was raised by Raymond and Helen (Hanna) Clements. He married Elizabeth “Cookie” (Luther) Adams on December 31, 1987 and she preceded in death on May 24, 2013. He joined the Army at 17 years old and was honorably discharged in 1964. He was a truck driver for a while after his military service. In 1971 he was hired at Sahara Coal Mines as a mine examiner until the mine closed down. He continued to work in the coal mines until his retirement in 2009. He was a avid hunter and also loved to fish. He was a member of the Dorrisville Baptist Church. He is survived by his Son: Mark (Ginny) Adams of Harrisburg, IL; 2 Stepdaughters: Cathy (Scott) Leo of Harrisburg, IL and Tammy (Dave) Dreer of Lancaster, PA; Brother: Floyd (Susan) Adams of Carrier Mills, IL 2 Sisters: Beverly Marrs of Harrisburg, IL and Gloria Marshoff of Clay City, IL; 4 Grandsons, 1 Granddaughter and 4 Great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth “Cookie” Adams, Parents: Gene Adams, Helen Clements and Raymond Clements, and Sister: Shirley Waddell.
