James Sherrod

James Sherrod, 88, of RT 1 Rosiclare, IL died Tuesday May 17, 2016, at 11:10 pm at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 21, 2016 at 12 Noon at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Saturday after 10 am until the service. Reverend Harold Miller will officiate. Masonic rites will be administered at 11:45 am. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery with military rites by the Carrier Mills American Legion, Harrisburg American Legion and the Army National Guard Ritual Team. He was born on November 25, 1927 in Saline County, IL to the late Dan Mitchell and Rena (Hayden) Sherrod. He married the former Helen Harris on February 10, 1952 and she preceded in death on September 16, 2011. He retired as head of maintenance from Pontiac General Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. He was a Army veteran of the Korean War and a member and Past Master of Oxford Masonic Lodge 84 in Oxford, Michigan. One of his biggest enjoyments was that he loved to go fishing. He is survived by a Daughter: Dixie (Todd) Knouse of Denver, CO; Granddaughter: Sarah Knouse of Denver, CO; Sister: Mary Stack of Rosiclare, IL; 3 Brothers: Robert Sherrod and Dan Sherrod both of Harrisburg, IL and John W. Sherrod of Golconda, IL. Several nieces and nephews.
