Herman C. "Smokey" Rice

Herman C. “Smokey” Rice, 75, of 905 Legion Road, Carrier Mills, IL died Sunday June 5, 2016 at his residence. Visitation only will be held Thursday June 9, 2016 from 4 to 6 pm at Felty Funeral Home. There will be no funeral service. He has been cremated. He was born on November 1, 1940 in Carrier Mills, IL to the late Orb and Orlie (Adams) Rice. He married the former Melinda Clark on February 14, 1992 and she preceded in death on January 30, 2011. He was a retired coal miner working for several years for Peabody Coal Company. He also was a member of the Stonefort Masonic Lodge. He is survived by 5 Children: Phillip (Donna) Rice of Carrier Mills, IL; Tena Barton of Harrisburg, IL; Josh Reed of Carrier Mills, IL; Penny Peek of Harrisburg, IL and Liz Hirsch of Carrier Mills, IL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Wife: Melinda Rice; parents; Son: Billy Goins; Sister: Violet Smith and 3 Brothers: Jr. Rice, James Rice and Robert Rice.
