Thomas Jefferson “Jim” Sumner, 92 of Carrier Mills, IL died Saturday December 10, 2016 at 6:26 am at Memorial Hospital in Chester, IL. Graveside Memorial services will be held Saturday December 17, 2016 at 11 am at Lakeview Cemetery in Carrier Mills, IL. There will be no visitation all family and friends should go directly to the cemetery. Reverend Ownly Williams will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and the Army National Guard Ritual Team. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL is assisting the family with the details. He was born on April 12, 1924 in Harrisburg, IL to the late Eli and Lillian (Payne) Sumner. He worked many jobs in his lifetime including being a operating engineer and bus driver just to name a couple. He enjoyed fishing and being around people. He was a Army Veteran of World War II and attended the Harrisburg Apostolic Church for many years. He is survived by His Nephews: Lanny Sumner of Carrier Mills, IL; Junior Sumner, Mike Sumner, Brian Sumner, and Mark Sumner all of Harrisburg, IL; Nieces: Wendy Neal and Paula Sumner both of Harrisburg, IL; several great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by 2 Brothers: Don Sumner and Leon Sumner; Sister: Madge Cole and a Nephew: Kevin Sumner.
