Pauline Berry, 91, of Chicago, IL formerly of Carrier Mills, IL died Wednesday January 25, 2017 at her residence. Graveside services will be held Tuesday February 7, 2017 at 11 am at Lakeview Cemetery in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Tuesday after 10 am at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Reverend Ownly Williams will officiate. She was born on January 5, 1926 in Ledford, IL to the late Thaddeus and Cora (Taylor) Gibbs. She was the youngest of 14 children; Anna, Emma, Albert, Willie, James, Louise, Christine, Essie, Beulah, Cornelis, Cecelia, J.B., Sarah and Walter who all preceded in death. Pauline was raised in Carrier Mills, Il and accepted Christ at a young age, when she was baptized into the Catholic faith. Pauline later moved to Chicago, IL where she met her late husband of 63 years Alfred Berry. Pauline devoted her life to the care of others. While in Chicago, she pursued a career in nursing, working as a pediatric nurse as well as private duty. Her love to care for others extended to her family. She raised her granddaughter, Tabitha Berry, and was instrumental in raising of other grandchildren, Kellie Martial and Paige Turner, as well as her great grandchildren Kenneth Perry III and Janiyah Hawkins. Her home was always open to any family member in need. Pauline was a devoted Chicago Bulls fan. She loved to travel and go to bingo or the casino with her friends. She is survived by 2 Daughters: Carol Scaggs and Treka Owens; 3 Grandchildren: Tabitha Berry, Kellie (Desir) Martial and Paige Turner; 4 Great grandchildren: Kenneth Perry III, Nadia Martial, Janiyah Hawkins and Jace Martial and 2 Great great grandchildren: James Perry and Maia Perry and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends. She was also preceded in death by a Son: Maurice Menard.
