James “Jim” Everett Dooley, 70, of 517 East Fife Street in Carrier Mills, IL died Saturday March 11, 2017 at 3:50 pm at the Marion VA Medical Center Nursing Home. Memorial graveside services will be held Thursday March 16, 2017 at 11 am at Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills, IL. Family friend Larry Clore will officiate. Military rites will be performed by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and the Army National Guard Ritual Team. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 pm at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. He was born on July 22, 1946 in Harrisburg, IL to the late Harvey and Mary (Wise) Dooley. He married the former Sheridan “Sherry” Walton on December 20, 1968 and she survives. Jim was a retired coal miner working and several area mines including Sahara Coal mines, Willow Lake and Babcock Wilcox mine. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in December 1965 serving his country during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his Wife: Sheridan “Sherry” Dooley of Carrier Mills, IL; Daughter: Kim (Jeff) Malone of Galatia, IL; Son: Scott (Dana) Dooley of Harrisburg, IL; 3 Grandchildren: Kyndal Malone of Galatia, IL, Grant Dooley and Laikyn Dooley both of Harrisburg, IL; and a Nephew: Chris Dooley of Carrier Mills, IL. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Sister: Mary Margaret Dooley and Brother: Kendall Dooley.
