Richard “Dick” Rual Tanner, 84, of 330 Main Street, New Burnside, IL died Saturday April 8, 2017 at 9:15 am in Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 11, 2017 at 2 pm at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Tuesday after 11 am until service time. Reverend Darrell Ford and Reverend Dick Driskell will officiate. Burial will be in the New Burnside Cemetery with military rites performed by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and the Army National Guard Ritual Team. He was born on November 2, 1932 in Carrier Mills, IL to the late Rual and Dimple Helen (Cross) Tanner. He married the former Jo Phillips on July 2, 1955 and she survives. He was retired from Sahara Coal Company where he drove and worked on heavy equipment, which was one of his many loves. He was a Army Veteran of the Korean War and was currently attending the New Burnside Baptist Church. He is survived by his Wife: Jo Tanner of New Burnside, IL; 2 Daughters: Kathy Watkins of New Burnside, IL and Pam (Steve) Baity of Ozark, IL; 3 Grandchildren: Richard Watkins, Jessica Baity and Cody Baity; 4 Great Grandchildren: Hunter Ditterline, Allison Jo Ditterline, Carsten Baity and Colbie Ann Baity; 6 Sisters: Donna White of Ozark, IL; Shirley Brown, Melba Tanner and Lynn (Charlie) Tanner all of New Burnside, IL, Karen (Bill) Scates of Shawneetown, IL and Debra (John) Bush of Harrisburg, IL; 3 Brothers: Gary (Helen) Tanner and Ronald (Minnie Jo) Tanner both of New Burnside, IL and John (Margaret) Tanner of Simpson, IL. He was preceded in death by a Brother: David Tanner and Son In Law: Stanley Watkins.
