Betty Louise Tanner

Betty Louise Tanner, 76, of 220 Pyle Street, Carrier Mills, IL died Friday February 2, 2018 at 10:16 am at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held Monday February 5, 2018 at 12 Noon at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Monday after 10 am until service time. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Reverend Dick Driskell, Reverend Kenny Griffin and Reverend Jeff Owens will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. She was born on July 8, 1941 in Galatia, IL to the late Ralph and Lucille (Jones) Owens. Betty was a selfless, sweet and gentle woman who was loved by many. She loved to travel, and spent many summers at the beach. She enjoyed playing miniature golf, puzzles and was a avid Elvis Presley fan. She was a long standing member of the New Salem Baptist Church in Carrier Mills, IL, she taught Sunday School their for a while and was a member of the WMU, she also would volunteer her time at the local nursing home. She was married to her devoted husband, Carl Eugene “Gene” Tanner on November 11, 1959. To this union 2 Children was born: Debbie Tanner of Carrier Mills, IL and Steve Tanner of West Frankfort, IL; 6 Grandchildren: Brandi (Brett) Brachear of Carterville, IL; Matthew Tanner and Jordan Tanner both of Carbondale, IL; Brandon Tanner of Herrin, IL; Jamie Reynolds of Harrisburg, IL and Travis Hall of Carrier Mills, IL; 5 Great Grandchildren; Sister: Shirley Jones of Harrisburg, IL and 2 Brothers: Norman (Joyce) Owens of Marion, IL and Larry (Mary) Owens of Clay City, IN.
