Boneva M. Morgan

Boneva (Bonnie) M. Lanton Morgan, age 78, wife of Raymond Morgan of Roswell, GA, went home to be with the Lord on March 7th, 2018. She was born to George and Florence Lanton on July 5, 1939 in Carrier Mills, IL. She attended Lakeview Grade School, Carrier Mills High School, and finally Southern Illinois University-Carbondale where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. After marrying her husband Raymond and having two sons, Jeffrey and Douglas, she continued her academic pursuits, earning a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois. She was an active member in the Rockford Public School System, serving on various boards and committees to support educational uplift for students in the city and went on to teach elementary school in the great Rockford area for 15 years. Her special interests and hobbies included serving her church, spending time with her family, reading, playing bridge and sewing. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Florence (Jones) Lanton, along with 6 sisters (and 4 brothers-in-law); Velma Sumner, Willa (Martin) Williams, Joyce Green, Nola (John) Bell, Peggy (Charles) Beard, Nedra Redding, along with baby brother Lanton, and brother-in-law; Richard (Dick) Drue. Survivors include her husband Raymond Morgan, sons Jeffery (Joyce) and Douglas Morgan; grandchildren Janell, Michael (Deshauna), Matthew, and Jasmine, great-grandchildren Zane and Zoey (Michael & Deshauna); sister, Carolyn Lanton Drue of Carrier Mills, IL, and nephew/brother, Ron (Jeannine)Williams of Harrisburg, IL as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and close friends. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 15th, at St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, GA. Graveside services will be in Carrier Mills, IL at Lakeview Cemetery on Sunday, May 27th at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ron Williams officiating.
