Carl Thomas Gibson

Carl Thomas Gibson, 88, of Carrier Mills, IL died Monday August 12, 2019 at 6:10 am at his residence.   Funeral services will be held Friday August 16, 2019 at 12 Noon at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Friday from 10 am until service time. Reverend Leroy Hicks will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery with military rites by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and the U.S. Navy Ritual Team.   He was born on August 2, 1931 in Warrensburg, IL to the late John and Helen (Disney) Gibson.   He married the former Helen Rippy on March 15, 1952 and she preceded in death on December 14, 2017.   Carl retired from the United States Navy, he served in the Korean War and the Vietnam war. After his retirement from the Navy he was employed at Harrisburg Medical Center for many years where he was head of housekeeping. In his spare time he loved gardening and spending time with his family.   He is survived by 4 children: Donald (Debbie) Gibson of Chesapeake, VA; Sharon Gibson of Carrier Mills, IL; William (Michele) Gibson of Galatia, IL and Nancy (Darry) Breeze of Las Vegas, NV; 5 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his Wife: Helen Gibson and 2 Sisters: Barbara Lee Jamerson and Carolyn Sue Webb.
