Charles W. Parks

Charles W. Parks, 80, of 7385 US Highway 45 South, Carrier Mills, IL died Sunday April 15, 2018 at 3:08 pm at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Military rites will be held Saturday May 5, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American legions and the US Navy Ritual Team. Visitation will be held after 11 am on Saturday. Burial will be at a later date in Lakeview Memorial Garden in Fairview Heights, IL. He was born on August 9, 1937 in Carrier Mills, IL to the late Shelby and Betty (Ney) Parks.   He married the former Barbara Jean Donohue and she preceded in death on July 17, 1986.   He worked as a chemical engineer at Monsanto Chemical Company until retirement.   He served in the US Navy for many years and was a member of Carrier Mills American Legion Post 364.   He is survived by a Daughter: Helen Rose (John) Walker of Granite City, IL; Son: Gary (Mary Kay) Parks of Granite City, IL; Grandchild: Justin Parks of Lebanon, MO; Step-Brother: Dewayne (Barb) Randolph of Anna, IL and Sister in Law and Brother in Law: Debbie & Bennie Manion of Marion, IL and 4 great friends: Paula Pyle, Richard Chadeyne, Albert Mitchell and Gene Ross.   He was preceded in death by his Wife: Barbara Parks, parents, Step-Mother: Wilma Parks and 2 Sisters: Patsy Wozhowski and Mary Ann Parks.
