Chester Lamonte Rollins

Chester Lamonte Rollins, 76, of Colp, IL and Carrier Mills, IL died Monday September 25, 2023 at 6:29 am at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday September 30, 2023 at 12 Noon at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Saturday after 10 am until service time. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery at a later date. He was born on May 23, 1947 in Carrier Mills, IL to the late Chester G. and Afton (Taborn) Rollins. Lamonte was a star athlete at Carrier Mills/Stonefort High School in the late 1960's. He excelled in running, many people have mentioned that he had world class speed in cross country events. He never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He also loved riding motorcycles. He was a member of the Laborers Local 773. He worked many jobs during his lifetime including road construction, mining at Sahara Coal Company, was an autoworker in Detroit and worked for Jackson Funeral Home in Colp, IL for many years which included digging many graves by hand. He is survived by his Children: Eric Rollins of Carrier Mills, IL; Rochelle (Tim) Hobson of Fairview Heights, IL; Kranston Kincaid of Austin, TX; Jeremy Cofield of Lexington, KY; Xlander Rollins of Harrisburg, IL; Kenya Gorman of Mayfield, KY; Aiden Rollins of Colp, IL and Zavier Rollins of Colp, IL; Significant Other: LaDea Allen of Colp, IL; 3 Brothers: Henry Larue Rollins of Carrier Mills, IL; Harry Rollins of Carrier Mills, IL; David Rollins of Harrisburg, IL; Sister: Janet (Mike) Buckley of Carrier Mills, IL; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother: Joe Rollins and Sister: Carolyn Rollins.
