Corum Eugene Turner

Corum Eugene Turner, 73, of Stonefort, IL died Monday October 9, 2023 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday October 14, 2023 at 1 pm at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Saturday after 10 am until the service time. Reverend Jimmy Russell will officiate and Burial will be in Coal Bank Springs Cemetery near Dykersburg, IL. Memorials may be made to funeral home to help with expenses. He was born on September 11, 1950 in Pittsburg, IL to the late Pleasant Jewel and Helen Louise (Tanner) Turner. He was a graduate of Crab Orchard High School where he excelled at basketball. He continued his playing career at Northeastern A & M Junior College and later finished his education and playing days at Judson University in Elgin, IL. He married the former Carla Tanner on May 11, 1974 an she preceded in death on May 19, 2022. He worked many years as a coal miner and was currently employed by Mach Mining near Pittsburg, IL. He was a member of Coal Bank Springs Baptist Church and the Carrier Mills Sons of the American Legion Post# 364. He is survived by 2 Children: Corey Turner of Metropolis, IL and Cassie Turner of Stonefort, IL; 3 Grandchildren: Cord Turner of Marion, IL; Carlee Bletch of Stonefort, IL and Core`yah Turner of Metropolis, IL; Brother: Larry (Linda) Turner of Marion, IL; 2 Sisters: Brenda (Danny) Swan of Stonefort, IL and Gayla (Jimmy) Russell of Marion, IL and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and Wife: Carla Turner.
