Edgar Mathias Humm Jr., 80, of Harrisburg, IL, died on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 5:25 pm at Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg, IL. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 11 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Harrisburg, IL. Visitation will begin at 9 am until service time at the church with Father Christian Iwuagwu officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL is assisting the family with arrangements. Edgar was born on November 7, 1944 to the late Edgar Sr. and Helena Josephine (Mudd) Humm in Evansville, IN. Edgar lived in Evansville, Dixon, KY, Equality and Harrisburg, IL. He attended Harrisburg High School, then later Southeastern Illinois College of Harrisburg, IL and Southern Illinois University of Carbondale, IL earning his Bachelor's degree. He married Connie Jo Yates on December 27, 1969 in Harrisburg, IL; she survives. Edgar was a school teacher for many years at Stonefort, IL and Shawneetown, IL. He later founded Harrisburg Masonry. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Harrisburg, IL. Edgar is survived by his Wife: Connie Jo (Yates) Humm of Harrisburg, IL; Son: Michael Humm of Harrisburg, IL; Granddaughter: Leiasia Humm; Brother: David “Sonny” Humm of Harrisburg, IL; 2 Sisters: Marcia Slightom of Bettendorf, IA and Pam (Jeff) Marcum of Harrisburrg, IL; Brother-in-law: John Simmons of Marion, IL and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents: Edgar Sr. and Helena Josephine (Mudd) Humm and 2 sisters: Wilma Jean Nordberg and Judy Vowels.
