Obituary Elspeth Jonell “MaMaw JoJo” Newsome, 59, of Carrier Mills, IL died Thursday July 8, 2021 at 10:31 am at Harrisburg Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 13, 2021 at 12 Noon at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Tuesday after 10 am until service time. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Reverend Ownly Williams will officiate. She was born on December 11, 1961 in Harrisburg, IL to the late Louis and Frances Irene (King) Hayes. She married Harold Newsome Sr. on February 14, 2004 and he preceded in death on December 14, 2007. She worked as a laborer for road construction for many years, she was a member of the Laborers Local Union 198. She loved taking care of everyone, especially her grandchildren, family and her home. She is survived by 4 Children: Shalese Newsome (Atif Sherwani) of Harrisburg, IL; James Hayes of Harrisburg, IL; Christy Hayes of Harrisburg, IL and Nathan Hayes of Harrisburg, IL; 3 Brothers: Paul Hayes and Bill Hayes both of Harrisburg, IL and Glen Hayes of Henderson, KY; 4 Sisters: Nancy Doerr of Harrisburg, IL; Ellen Smith of McLeansboro, IL; Marcella Rash of Hardin County, IL and Sharon Hayes of Evansville, IN and 8 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband: Harold Newsome Sr. and Daughter: Angel Brooklynn Hayes.
