George A. Jackson

Obituary George A. Jackson, 79, of 504 Roosevelt Street, Stonefort, IL died Tuesday April 17, 2018 at 8:45 am at his residence.   Funeral services will be held Saturday April 21, 2018 at 1 pm at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Blackman Cemetery in Stonefort, IL. Reverend Keith Bunfill will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Stonefort Park Fund, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.   He was born on September 10, 1938 in Johnson County, IL to the late Eugene and Ruth (Nance) Jackson.   He married the former Elaine Smith on April 24, 1959 and she preceded in death on November 13, 2011. They will be celebrating their 59th anniversary in heaven this coming Tuesday.   He was retired from the United States Forestry Service where he worked for over 30 years.   He served the Village of Stonefort for over 50 years as their Mayor. He was also a member of Stonefort Missionary Baptist Church.   He is survived by 4 Children: Allen (Donna) Jackson of Stonefort, IL; Penny (Bill) Benton of Colorado Springs, CO; Jarrod Jackson of Stonefort, IL and Allyson (Gary) Ryan of Stonefort, IL; 9 Grandchildren: Elijah (Alex) Jackson, Jordan Jackson, Taylor (Jacob) Horn, John (Breanne) Benton, Blake Benton, Amanda (Bryan) Riordan, Kelli (Aaron) Fredrick, Brock Jackson and Kyleigh Ryan; 9 Great Grandchildren: Augustine Benton, Francis Benton, Dustin Shepherd, Dylan Shepherd, Alex Shepherd, Max Shepherd, Abby Williams, Domonic Williams and Elizabeth Williams and several nieces, nephews and cousins.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Wife: Elaine Jackson; and 5 Brothers: James Jackson. Harold Jackson, William Jackson, Gary Jackson and Edward Jackson.
