George Leroy Lindle

George Leroy Lindle, 89, of Harrisburg, IL formerly of Carrier Mills, IL died Sunday December 19, 2021 at 8:03 am at Harrisburg Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday December 23, 2021 at 1 pm at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Thursday after 11 am until service time. Bob Futch will officiate and burial will be in Joyner Cemetery in Stonefort, IL. He was born on November 27, 1932 in Sturgis, KY to the late Thomas J. and Mary (Gogue) Lindle. He married the former Evelyn Janice Ritter on March 17, 1965 in Morganfield, KY, she preceded in death on February 5, 2014. Leroy was a retired coal miner, where he worked at several of the area mines before his retirement. He was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church in Stonefort, IL. Leroy was an avid walker, you would see him almost everyday walking the streets of Carrier Mills or taking advantage of the bike trail. He is survived by 4 sons: Mike Lindle; John Lindle; Ellis (Fem) McEwan and Mike (Candy) McEwan all of Harrisburg, IL; 2 Daughters: Karen Foster of Harrisburg, IL and Pat Jackson of Texas; 18 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; Wife: Evelyn Janice Lindle; 2 Daughters: Nancy Lindle and Joyce Colbruth; Son: Jim McEwan; Brother: Virgil Lindle and 2 Sisters: Lavada Rice and Marie Futch Fritts.
