Helen Josephine "Jo" Choate

Helen Josephine “Jo” Choate, 86, of New Burnside, IL died Friday July 16, 2021 at 5:32 pm at Carrier Mills Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will held Wednesday July 21, 2021 at 11 am at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9 am until service time. Burial will be in Little Saline Cemetery and Reverend Jeff Owens will officiate. She was born on October 11, 1934 in Stonefort, IL to the late Coy and Mary (Shadowens) Evans. She married Carl Choate on February 8, 1954 and he preceded in death on November 7, 2016. She worked as a dietary aid for many years before her retirement. She loved spending time with children and was especially fond of her grandchildren. She also attended Stonefort General Baptist Church. She is survived by 2 Sons: Randall “Randy” (Debbie) Choate of Ozark, IL and Brian (Laura) Choate of Herrin, IL; Daughter: Kelley (Charles) Bates of Marion, IL; 6 Grandchildren: Lance (Desirea) Choate, Forrest Zaranti, Elisabeth (T.J.) Glowiak, Ariel Choate, Leslie (Sterling) Price and Kolten Choate; and 8 Great Grandchildren: Delaney Choate, Presley Choate, Selina Hackney, Siri Hackney, Maximus Price, Karsyn Choate, Aleia Price and Calum Price. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband: Carl Choate; Son: Marty Choate and 3 Brothers: Leon Evans, Bob Evans and Richard Evans.
