Hugh Mccabe Jr

Hugh McCabe Jr, 95, of Junction, IL formerly of Stonefort, IL and Tinley Park, IL died Tuesday November 2, 2021 at 2:35 pm at his residence. Funeral services will be held Friday November 5, 2021 at 1 pm at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Friday after 11 am until service time. Reverend Keith Bunfill and Josh Koerner will officiate. Burial will be in Bolton-Trammell Cemetery with military rites by the Carrier Mills American Legion, Harrisburg American Legion and the Scott Air Force Base Ritual Team. Memorials may be made to Bolton-Trammell Cemetery or Stonefort Missionary Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. He was born on September 17, 1926 in Stonefort, IL to the late Hugh Francis and Iva Olive (Felty) McCabe. He married the former Nellie Eulene Bennett on August 24, 1956 and she preceded in death on April 12, 2008. He was a retired educator, school administrator and counselor. He received 3 Masters degrees and had taught school all the way from a 1 room school in Stonefort, IL to a university in the Chicago suburbs as well as helping start school districts Thornridge High School and Thornwood High School. He was also an Air Force Veteran serving in World War II. He was a member of the Tinley Park Baptist Church in Tinley Park, IL and attended the Stonefort Missionary Baptist Church in Stonefort, IL. He is survived by 2 Children: Lucinda (Ron) Koerner of Littleton, CO and Bennett Hugh McCabe of Chicago, IL; 2 Grandchildren: Josh (Lillian) Koerner of Coldwater, MI and Caitlyn Koerner of Littleton, CO; Brother: Patrick (Alice) McCabe of Murrieta, CA and Sister: Margaret Mossman of Equality, IL. He was preceded in death by his Wife: Nellie McCabe; 3 Brothers: Robert McCabe, Donald McCabe and William McCabe and Sister: Anne Marie Hinton.
