Jack W. Yates, 83, of McLeansboro, IL died at 8:03 am, Monday December 9, 2024 at his place of residence. His wishes were to be cremated. Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Friday December 20, 2024 at Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills, IL. Military rites will be performed by the Army National Guard and the American Legion Posts of Carrier Mills and Harrisburg, IL. Felty Funeral Home of Carrier Mills, IL is assisting the family with arrangements. Jack was born on September 5, 1941 in Chicago Heights, IL to the late Samuel Offa and Avil E. (Middleton) Yates. He married the former Dawn French on January 30, 1966. She preceded him in death on December 23, 1980. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Later he worked in surveillance as a Security Guard for Scott Lad. Jack is survived by his 3 Sons: David (Sheryl) Yates of McLeansboro, IL, Duane Yates of Dix, IL and Dale Yates of Colorado Springs, CO; Daughter, Joann (Victor) Valdez of O’Fallon, IL; Sister: Fay Hedke of Cincinnati, OH;10 Grandchildren and 12 Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Samuel Offa and Avil E. (Middleton) Yates; Wife: Dawn French; Son: Royce Allen Yates, 2 Brothers: Samuel Yates Jr. and Luther Yates; Sister, Laverne Owens, and 2 Great-grandchildren.
