Jewell Cofield, 99, of Harrisburg, IL died Monday February 4, 2019 at 8:00 am at the Anchor Assisted Living Facility in Marion, IL. Funeral services will be held Friday February 8, 2019 at 12 Noon at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Friday from 10 am until service time. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Reverend Larry Morse and Reverend Ownly Williams will officiate. Jewell was born on September 12, 1919 in Carrier Mills, IL to the late Arnett and Violet (Dabbs) Russell. She married Richard Cofield on January 12, 1941 and he preceded in death on September 11, 1986. Jewell accomplished many things during her lifetime, she started by graduating from Madam C.J. Walker Beauty School in Chicago, IL in 1939 and becoming a traveling beautician. She also worked as an Attendant at the Elgin State Mental Hospital and later on at Bowen Center in Harrisburg, IL; She was also a Antique Dealer for many years. Jewell was also a Historian and Author. She wrote a book entitled “Memories of Lakeview”. Jewell was a charter member of the First Opportunity Freewill Baptist Church in Carrier Mills, IL. She is survived by her Daughter: Lois Williams of Harrisburg, IL; 4 Grandchildren: Wynette (James) Render of Gulf Port, MS, Zachary (Jeanie) Kendrick of Harrisburg, IL David McReynolds of Carrier Mills, IL and Turquoise Kendrick of Harrisburg, IL; 4 Great Grandchildren: Nicholas (Lori) Kendrick of Evansville, IN, Jamie Render of Gulf Port, MS, Neal Render of Chicago, IL and Anthony Michael McReynolds of Indianapolis, IN; 6 Great Great Grandchildren: Tamara Kendrick, Devin Kendrick, Dylan Kendrick, Drew Kendrick, Kamari Smith and Karmen Smith; and several nieces and nephews including: Terri Holmes, Terry Cofield, Greg Cofield, Gaynell Magaha, Mike Magaha; Special Daughter In Laws: Aubine Cofield and Ruth Abernathy; Special Cousins: Marlene, William and Gloria Taborn and Pat Hayes; Special Friend: Steve Cole and many other cousins, friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband: Richard Cofield; and 2 Sons: Larry Cofield and Cecil Cofield.
