April 27, 1946 — February 9, 2023

Jim Hambleton, 76, of Carrier Mills, IL left this life and stepped into the next one with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 7:52 p.m. He took his final breath peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 14, 2023 at 11 am at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills IL. Visitation will be held from Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Simmons Cemetery near Creal Springs, IL with Military Rites by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and the Army National Guard Ritual Team.. Reverend Jeff Owens will officiate. Jim was first and foremost a servant of Jesus Christ and a devoted family man. He was the current Pastor at Rudement Church. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior on February 11, 1974. Since he was called to preach in 1975, he has been an evangelist, an interim pastor, a lay preacher and a Pastor of a few different churches. Jim was a member of the US Army & Army Reserves from December 1965 through November 1971. He retired from the State of Illinois on December 31, 2012. Working in Springfield when he was young and then finishing his career for the State working in Food Service at Vienna Correctional Center. Jim’s greatest enjoyment came from talking about the Lord and sharing the gospel with others. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and supporting them in every endeavor. He rarely missed an award ceremony, musical performance, or sporting event for his children and grandchildren. There has never been a man who was more proud of his family or who loved them more than Jim. They also adored him and thought he may have hung the moon. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf, grilling, and any activity with his grandchildren. He is also a proud supporter of all of our armed forces. Jim was born in Ozark, IL on April 27, 1946, to Marvin (Mark) and Beatrice (Bea Durfee) Hambleton. They preceded him in death. He married Erma (Johnson) Hambleton on May 17, 1968, who survives, and they have celebrated 54 years of marriage. Other survivors include his son: Scott (Kimberly) Hambleton, daughter: Kim (Chuck) Burnham of Carrier Mills, IL; Grandchildren: Melissa (DeShawn) Ellis of Harrisburg, IL Jordan Burnham (Fiance: Justin Austin), Brandon Hambleton of Carrier Mills, IL and Christian Oliver, Great-Grandchildren: Adalynn Bynum, Darnel Ellis, Donte Ellis, and Joshua Ellis, of Harrisburg, IL two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Rick and Donna Wall of Creal Springs, IL, Donald and Janet Lawrence of Ozark, IL one aunt, Imogene Edwards of Marion, IL Cousin Steve (Tange) Hambleton of Stonefort, IL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Virginia and Edward Johnson and one great-grandson, Titan Israel Ellis. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
