John Louis Cummins

John Louis Cummins, 52 of Carrier Mills, IL passed on Wednesday August 3, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 8, 1969 in Harrisburg, IL to the late Robert Louis Cummins and Phyllis (Fodor) Cummins, whom survives. He married the former Angela “Angie” Smith on June 2, 2007 and she survives. John was an educational advocate his entire career. His teaching career began at Massac County and continued at his alma mater in Carrier Mills, IL. While at Carrier Mills, he also coached the Seventh Grade basketball team for many years. At Carrier Mills is where he developed his love for educational administration, serving as Assistant Principal at the end of his tenure at Carrier Mills/Stonefort High School. He then served as Principal at Galatia Schools for nearly a decade. He was serving as the director of the Wabash and Ohio Valley Reginal Vocational System at the end of his life. John was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, fisherman and hunter, and celebrated time with his family and friends. John is survived by his Wife: Angela “Angie” Cummins of Carrier Mills, IL; Mother: Phyllis Cummins of Carrier Mills, IL; 2 Sons: Braden Matthew Cummins and Elijah Robert Cummins both of Carrier Mills, IL; Brother: Paul Cummins of Harrisburg, IL and countless friends. Funeral Services will be held Sunday August 7, 2022 at 1 pm at Carrier Mills/Stonefort Elementary School; Reverend Christopher Wise will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 4 to 7 pm at Carrier Mills/Stonefort Elementary School and Sunday after 9 am until service time. Memorials in John's memory may be made to Carrier Mills/Stonefort Athletic Department or Galatia Athletic Department, envelopes will be available.
