John Breckenridge Fugate Jr, 83, of Carrier Mills, IL died Saturday December 4, 2021 at 1:38 pm at his home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 8, 2021 at 12 Noon at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Wednesday after 10 am until service time. Reverend Bobby Gentry will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery will military rites by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and the US Army National Guard Ritual Team. John was born on May 15, 1938 in Tiptop, Kentucky to the late John Breckenridge and Olivia (Honn) Fugate Sr. He married the former Barbara Jean Horton on November 25, 1961 and she survives. John worked many years as a welder in the coal mining industry, retiring from Peabody Coal Company. He loved to fish and tinker with lawn mowers. He attended River of Life Church in Harrisburg, IL and was a U.S. Army veteran. John is survived by his wife: Barbara Fugate of Carrier Mills, IL; Son: Bill (Mary) Fugate of Carrier Mills, IL; Sister: Pauline “Polly” (Roger) Shires of Eddyville, IL; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Daughter: Rhonda Fugate; Brother: Charles Fugate and Sister: Freda Monhollen.
