John R. Mullinix, 95, of Metropolis, IL formerly of Carrier Mills, IL died Friday December 15, 2023 at 1:22 pm at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY. His wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be Saturday December 30, 2023 at 2 pm at Harvest Deliverance Center in Harrisburg, IL. Visitation will be held after 1 pm at the church. Reverend Ownly Williams will officiate. Military rites will be held at the church prior to services at 2 pm by the US Navy and the American Legions and VFW Ritual Teams. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL is assisting the family. John was born on September 11, 1928 in Harrisburg, IL to the late Roy L. and Lillian (Parrish) Mullinix. He married the former Wilma Lee Hamlett in 1948 and she preceded in death in March of 1989. He was a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, MO as a mechanical engineer. This led to him being employed at McDonald-Douglas aircraft for many years. He was a US Navy veteran that served in World War II. He was also a member of the Metropolis American Legion. John was a devoted Holy Spirit believer In our Messiah Jesus Christ. John became an ordained minister in the 1970's being ordained by Dr. Richard Hubble of the Southern Baptist Convention of Southern Illinois. During his life he was affiliated with many area churches including being a minister at First Opportunity Freewill Baptist Church and Baber Chapel A.M.E both in Carrier Mills, IL and under the direction of Pastor Myrtle Mae Miller. He was also one of the pioneers of the Adat Ariel Congregation Community Lion of God in 199 and a faithful member and Elder with the founding Patriarch and Matriarch's of Adat Ariel congregation. He is survived by 8 Children: John W. (Toni) Mullinix of Henderson, NV; Frances David (Mary) Mullinix of Rantoul, IL; Kathy C. Molyneaux of Overland, MO; Larry G. (Bridgette) Mullinix of Carrier Mills, IL; Gary D. (Mary) Mullinix of Metropolis, IL; Jeffrey A. (Patty) Mullinix of Troy, IL; Susan M. Adams of Harrisburg, IL and Rebecca L. Jennings of Carrier Mills, IL; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; Wife: Wilma Lee Mullinix; 4 Brothers and 1 Sister. Brother and father will be missed.
