Larry Cooper

Larry Cooper, 75, of Galatia, IL died Tuesday January 22, 2019 at 5:30 am at his residence. Graveside services will be held Saturday January 26, 2019 at 11 am at East Salem Cemetery near Mt. Vernon, IL. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 pm at the Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Fred Mooney will officiate.   Larry was born on April 18, 1943 in Mt. Vernon, IL to the late Lloyd and Eva (Mackey) Cooper.   He married the former Charlyan Mooney on January 1, 1971, and she preceded in death on January 26, 2017.   Larry was a retired school teacher and coach, he taught at a couple schools in the northern part of the state before coming to Tamaroa for a short time. He then was hired by the Galatia School System, at Galatia he taught and coached for over 35 years until his retirement.   Larry was a avid sports fan, he loved cheering for the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Dodgers.   He is survived by his Son: Bennie (Brenda Nelson) Cooper of Norris City, IL; Daughter: Robyan Cooper of Galatia, IL; 2 Grandchildren: Heather Hendrix and Chalon McGehee both of Muddy, IL and Great Grandchild: Owen Hendrix of Muddy, IL.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Wife: Charlyan Cooper; 2 Brothers: Bobby Gene Cooper and Harold Wayne Cooper and 2 Sisters: Sharon Cooper and Marilyn Hall.
