Lou Ann Yates

Lou Ann Yates, 89, of Harrisburg, IL died Monday July 29, 2024 at Reflections Memory Care in Harrisburg, IL. Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 8, 2024 at 11 AM at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be at 9:30 AM on Thursday until service time. Reverend Ken Rutledge will officiate services. Memorials may be made to West Side Elementary School and may be left or sent to the funeral home. Lou Ann was born December 28, 1934 to the late Henry and Myrtle (Wilkins) Dallas of Harrisburg, IL. She married Jack O. Yates on August 30, 1952. They enjoyed many years of life together until he preceded her in death on February 9, 2021. After 4 years of college, Lou Ann went on to become an elementary school teacher. She began her career at Bayless grade school of Harrisburg, IL then moved to West Side elementary in Harrisburg. In her free time Lou Ann enjoyed golfing, traveling and an occasional trip to the casino. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Harrisburg, IL and played the piano there for many years. Lou Ann is survived by her son: Jeff (Arrawhanna) Yates of O’Fallon, IL; daughter: Jan (Ken) Rutledge of Lincoln, IL; grandchildren: Josh (Jacki) Rutledge, Gabe (Lori) Rutledge, and Elizabeth (Tim) Casey; great-grandchildren: Joel, Jude, Drake, Hadley, Grady and Jazzy Rutledge and Hannah and Cameron Casey; and brother: W.C. Dallas of Mt. Carmel, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Myrtle (Wilkins) Dallas; husband: Jack O. Yates; siblings: Helen Capel, Loren Dallas, Clyde Dallas, Nellie Malone, Edna Bruce, Dayton Dallas and Harold Dallas.
