Loving life as she lived it, beautiful, loving, funny and determined Ludene Craig, 85, of Bedford, IN formerly of Carrier Mills, IL passed away Saturday August 28, 2021 at 5:05 pm at home surrounded by her devoted daughters. Ludene was born on November 7, 1935 in New Burnside, IL the daughter of Hiram “Dow” and Grace (Pritchett) Deaton. She married her true love Valgene Craig on January 6, 1953. He preceded her in death on June 16, 2012. She will always be lovingly remembered by her 3 Daughters: Mia (John) Hughes of Bedford, IN; Mary (Jon) Pritchett of Bedford, IN and Myra (Ethan) Bohenkamp of Mitchell, IN; also surviving are the joys of her life; her Grandchildren: Austin (Ben) Skutnik, Mitchell (Hannah) Osborne, Nathan (Lindsey) Hughes, Taylor Pritchett, Morgan (Brock) Helton, Alex (Kelsey) Pritchett, Connor Absher, Mathew Peterson, Ethan Bohnenkamp (Fianc`e: Alyssa Mayhan) and Grace Bohnenkamp; her special blessings, her Great grandchildren: Bo, Brooks, Eleanor, Calum, Blayze, Quinn and Ivy and several special nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her Husband: Valgene Craig; 3 Sisters: Wanda Wall, Ladora Deaton and Juanita McCormack and Brother: James Lavern Deaton. Ludene was a life long member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church near New Burnside, IL. She was president of the Carrier Mills Water Board for over 38 years. She worked for many years at Patton's Cafe in Junction, IL. As many know, one of Ludene's greatest pleasures was cooking for others, and especially her family, whom she was so lovingly devoted. Ludene will be dearly missed by her family and friends, but are comforted, knowing she is with her Lord and Savior. Funeral services will be held Thursday September 2, 2021 at 11 am at Walnut Grove Baptist Church near Stonefort, IL. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL and Thursday after 10 am until service time at the church. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills, IL. Reverend Tracy Killinger and Reverend Ron Ferguson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Walnut Grove Baptist Church in her memory.
