Marvin W. Smith, 81, of Chicago, IL and Carrier Mills, IL died 11:09 AM Thursday, March 7, 2024 at his son's residence in Chicago, IL. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 1 PM at Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Saturday after 12 noon at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Reverend Darrell Ford will officiate. Military rights will be conducted by the Army National Guard along with the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions. Marvin was born on November 25, 1942 in Brownsville, TN to the late Mitchell and Winnie (Rogers) Smith. He married Loretta Crain, and they were together for 61 years. She preceded him death on February 18, 2024. Marvin was an Army Veteran and worked as Vice President of manufacturing for an antenna company. He enjoyed fishing and spending time in Southern Illinois. He is survived by two sons: Marvin (Brenda) Smith and David (Carlotta) Smith of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren: Dustin Smith, Nicholas Smith, Cameron Smith and Zuzu Smith; five great-grandchildren: Brayden Smith, Decklan Smith, Kiefer Smith, Keegan Smith and Ayla Smith; three sisters: Jean Qualls, Nancy George and Ruth Cooper; and one brother: Mitchell Smith. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Mitchell and Winnie Smith, and his wife Loretta Smith.
