Raymond Lee Conley

Raymond Lee Conley, 68, of Creal Springs, IL died Thursday January 30, 2020 at 10:29 pm at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.   Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 4, 2020 at 11 am at the Stonefort General Baptist Church in Stonefort, IL. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the Stonefort General Baptist Church. Reverend Jeff Owens will officiate and Burial will be in Drake Cemetery. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL is assisting with the arrangements. Raymond was born on September 30, 1951 in Creal Springs, IL to the late Earl Lewis and Louise (Warren) Conley.   He was a retired Correctional Lieutenant from the Vienna Correctional facility, completing 25 years of service. He also was an ordained minister for many years, pastoring several churches in the local area. He was a member of the Stonefort General Baptist Church and an Army Veteran. He was also a previous business owner with Conley Realty. Additionally, he was a board member for the Burnside Water District serving the district for multiple years.     Raymond enjoyed working and riding horses. He was an avid country line dancer developing close friendships with a group of friends affectionately called the "Rowdy Bunch." The highlight of his day was spending time with his grandchildren. Raymond believed in a hard-work ethic and instilled that in his children. He would often say, "If you're going to do a job then make sure you do it right the first time because you are a Conley. Don't forget your last name means something."     Raymond is survived by 2 Children: Jason (Lisa) Conley of Siloam Springs, Arkansas and Angie (Matt) Johnson of Creal Springs, IL; 9 Grandchildren: Timothy Conley, Jacob Conley, Shayla Conley, Alexis Conley, Cody Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Callie Johnson, Caitlin Johnson and Corey Johnson; 4 Brothers: Dennis (Sherry) Conley of New Burnside, IL, Gary (Dixie) Conley of Creal Springs, IL, Randall (Lori) Conley of Vienna, IL and Sonny (Vicki) Conley of Creal Springs, IL; 4 Sisters: Mildred Mills of Creal Springs, IL, Helen (Bob) Rice of Creal Springs, IL; Laura (Robert) Williams of Lindenhurst, IL and Joann (Billy) Smith of Creal Springs, IL; Sister In Law: Lucy Conley of New Burnside, IL; Brother In Law: Chris Horn of Creal Springs, IL and Companion: Robin Turner of Mt Vernon, IL.     Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; grandson: Caiden Johnson; 2 brothers: Kenneth Conley and Freeman Conley; sister: Marilyn Conley Horn; and brother-in-law: Bill Mills.
