Rev. Charles Arthur "Art" Gibbons

Reverend Charles Arthur "Art" Gibbons, 78, of Carrier Mills, IL died Sunday October 29, 2023 at 5:55 PM at the Marion VA Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday November 2, 2023 at 11 AM at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be Thursday after 10 am until service time. Reverend Dale Martin will officiate. Burial will be in North America Cemetery with military rites by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and the US Navy ritual team. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the North America Baptist Church. Art was born on January 20, 1945 in Harrisburg, IL to the late Ray and Carrie (Raymer) Gibbons. He married the former Aileen Reeder and she preceded in death, he later married the former Barbara Sue Harris whom survives. He was a retired coal miner and pastor as well as a US Navy Veteran. He also was a member and former pastor of the North America Baptist Church near Harco, IL. Art also loved to play golf and spend time with his friends. He is survived by his Wife: Barbara Sue Gibbons of Carrier Mills, IL; Daughter: Samantha Keith of Stonefort, IL; Brother: Gene (Nina) Gibbons of Harrisburg,IL; Sister In Law: Harlene Gibbons; Step-children: James and Lisa Long; Nieces and Nephews: Bruce Gibbons, Zack Gibbons, Frank Gibbons, Jr, Geribeth Henson, Angela Gibbons-Dixon, Ronnie Brown and Reggie Brown and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; Wife: Aileen Gibbons; 2 Brothers: Bill Gibbons and Frank Gibbons and Sister: Dorothy Brown.
