Reverend Keith J. Groves, 67, of Johnson County, IL passed away Wednesday August 18, 2021 at 3:59 pm at the Marion VA Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday August 21, 2021 at 1 pm at Stonefort General Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Saturday after 11 am at the church. Reverend Jeff Owens is officiating and burial will be in the New Burnside Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard assisted by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL is assisting the family. Keith was born on July 18, 1954 in Evansville, IN to the late Johns C. and Callie (Williams) Groves Sr. Keith served in the US Air Force for 4 years during the Vietnam Era in which he was very proud of his service. Keith was a truck driver for many years. Prior to that he drove a tour bus for years and during that time he drove for the youth singing group “Continentals” where he made lots of friends and witnessed to many youth. He worked with the youth at Youth for Christ in many churches. No matter what he was doing he was passionate about his work, he especially loved working and being a mentor to many kids. He wanted others to know and have a relationship with the Lord. He was a member of the Ohio Association of General Baptist Churches and Stonefort General Baptist Church in Stonefort, IL. Keith was currently the pastor of Mizpah General Baptist Church in Harrisburg, IL. Keith is survived by his siblings: John C. Groves Jr. of New Burnside, IL; Ann Horn of New Burnside, IL and Leon (Carol) Groves of Carmi, IL; nieces and nephews: Rita (Mike) Hull, Gail (Bill) Whitehead, Kent Groves, Yvonne Desiart, Connie Crow, Doris Ann Richardson, Donald, Robert, Freddy and Dave Groves multiple great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Keith also leaves behind Tonya Kramer of Texas that he often referred to as his adopted daughter and his friends Don and Jenny Witter and their son, Jeremy and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew: Curt Horn and great great nephew: Caiden. Keith cherished time spent with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
