Ronnie L. Austin, 78, of Carrier Mills, IL died Thursday October 21, 2021 at 2:27 pm at his residence. Funeral services will be held Monday October 25, 2021 at 12 Noon at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Monday after 10 am until service time. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery with military rites performed by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and the Army National Guard Ritual Team.. Reverend Ryan Beck will officiate. Masonic rites will be held Monday at 11:45 am at the funeral home. Ronnie was born on November 5, 1942 in Saline County, IL to the late Thomas “Tommy” and Mabel Carrie (Ward) Austin. He married the former Brenda Vessel on June 27, 1970 and she survives. He retired after working for over 30 years at Verizon where he started as a lineman and finishing up in the office. He also was a avid fisherman and loved the St. Louis Cardinals. Ronnie was a Army Veteran and also a member of the Carrier Mills Blazing Star Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his Wife: Brenda Austin of Carrier Mills, IL; Son Aaron (Annetta) Austin of Carlinville, IL; Son In Law: Randy Bynum of Stonefort, IL; 5 Grandchildren: Cody Bynum of Marion, IL; Blake Bynum of Brookport, IL; Kaitlin, Justin and Alexis Austin all of Harrisburg, IL and Great Grandchild: Adalynn Bynum. He was preceded in death by his parents; Daughter: Tresa Bynum; Brother Thomas “Jim Tom” Austin and 2 Sisters: Norma Austin and Imogene Busch.
