Sharon K. Murray

Sharon K. Murray, 73, of Carrier Mills, IL passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday December 9, 2023 at 1:45 pm at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. Sharon was the daughter of Thomas Benjamin (TB) Tanner and was born on June 13, 1950 in Harrisburg, IL. Sharon graduated from Carrier Mills High School. She served in the Army during the Vietnam War, and later studied Med Tech at Tarrant County Junior College in Fort Worth, Texas. While in Fort Worth, Sharon raised two children, Billie and Gordon, worked at St. Joseph's Hospital, she later moved back to Carrier Mills, and retired from Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado, IL after a 43 year long career. Besides being an avid reader, Sharon loved to sketch and draw. When she wasn't reading or sketching, Sharon loved being with her family, where anyone could hear their contagious laughter when they were all together. Anyone that knew Sharon knew her for her generosity, kindness and love. Sharon is preceeded in death by her father, TB Tanner, and son-in-law Michael Wendler Sr. Sharon is survived by her children, Bille Wendler (Jeff Roper) of Carrier Mills, IL and Gordon Murray (Julie) of Harrisburg, IL, her grandchildren, Lindsey Garrett (Austin) of Harrisville, WV, Christian Murray of Harrisburg, IL, and Michael Wendler Jr. of Harrisburg, IL, her great-grandson Stetson Garrett of Harrisville WV, her sister, Linda Crittendon of Carrier Mills, IL and 2 Nieces: Amber Gooch and Tashy Rollins. Funeral services will be held Thursday December 14, 2023 at 12 Noon at Felty Funeral Home, Visitation will be Thursday after 11 am until service time. Rev. Bridget Douglas will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery with military rites by the US Army Ritual Team and Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and VFW
