Funeral services will be held Saturday November 9, 2024 at 12 Noon at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Saturday after 10 am until service time. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Shaun was born on March 31, 1965, to Johnny L. Springfield and Joyce M. Allen in Elyria, Ohio. She was a lifelong member of the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) church and attended Jones Chapel A.M.E in Elyria, Ohio, until moving to Illinois, and had recently began attending Bethel A.M.E. in Carbondale, Illinois. She was a Eastern Star and church missionary. In the summer of 2017, she moved from Elyria, Ohio to Carrier Mills, Illinois, her childhood home. On December 2, 2017, she married the love of her life Brian Drue, and moved into their farmhouse in the Lakeview community, outside of Carrier Mills. To say they were inseparable would be an understatement. After moving to Illinois, she became active in all things related to the Lakeview Community, as well as, ‘Connect 360’ a grassroots community organization based in Marion, Illinois. Her special interests included fishing, raising chickens and pigs, attending auctions, cruising, and traveling anywhere as long as she was with Brian. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and inspiration to so many others. Shaun truly loved life and loved people, regardless of blood relation or not. She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Springfield and Joyce Allen, and baby brother Zephaniah Taylor. Survivors include her husband, Brian Drue, her children, Calvin (Jessica) Robinson, Estaban Gutierrez, Cheyenne Gutierrez, Jerica Drue, Jaycie Drue, Tevin Shannon, and Khairee Davis. Grandchildren Alex, Aaron, Joshua, Navi, Axel, and a very special cousin Joya Strawder. She is also survived by her siblings Ginger Bradford, Tracey (Dale) Harris, and John Cook, Uncle Roy Springfield, Aunt Joyce (Springfield) Chavers, and Uncle Garrie “Pepper” (Jackie) Allen Jr., Brother-in Law Richard A (Donita) Drue Jr., Sister-in-Law L .Denise Drue (Brian S.) and Best Friend Cheryl (Chuck) Drue as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family who will cherish her memory forever. Shaun loved flowers, especially purple ones. Additionally, if anyone would prefer, in lieu of flowers, you can send monetary contributions for the benefit of Shaun's disabled special-needs cousin, Joya Strawder, directly to New Outlook, Inc., 27586 Schoolcraft, Livonia, MI. 48150. Donations will be directly deposited into Joya’s account. The family would like to thank everyone who has poured out an abundance of prayers and condolences. We truly appreciate all the love and support because it has helped strengthen and sustain us. A special thanks to Felty Funeral Home and Opal Mann/East Washington Street Church of God Community Center. Shaun was a loving soul. She met no strangers and was always excited for her next adventure with Brian. If she could share a word with you today, she would say “all is well with my soul”, and please go live a life filled with joy, peace, and compassion for others. Finally, and above all, love God with all your heart and love thy neighbors. She loved God, she loved her family, and she loved her community no matter where she lived. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery with repass at the Opal Mann/East Washington Street Church of God Community Center located at 403 East Washington Street in Carrier Mills.
