Obituary Susan Ellen Strait, 84, of Harrisburg, IL died Tuesday January 16, 2024 at 8:33 am at her residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 20, 2024 at 1 pm at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Saturday after 12 noon until service time. Reverend Bobby Parker will officiate. Burial will be in Little Saline Cemetery near Stonefort, IL with military rites performed by the US Navy, and the American Legions and VFW. She was born on May 19, 1939 in Stonefort, IL to the late John Irvin and Haline (Jackson) Stucker. She was a retired homemaker and worked as a cook for several years at the former Harrisburg IGA grocery store. She was a veteran of the US Navy and a former trustee of the Muddy Village Board, where she served for 13 years. Susan is survived by 2 Sons: Scott (Vivian) Strait of DuQuoin, IL; Jeff (Areida) Strait of Harrisburg, IL; 6 Grandchildren: Melaina (Chase Craig) Powell of Stonefort, IL; Franklin (Madison Newfarmer) O'Neal of Harrisburg, IL; Rocky (Hannah) Wright of Carbondale, IL; Jeremy (Danielle) Wright of Desoto, IL; Jessie (Marrietta) Wright of Coulterville, IL and Angela (Ryan) James of Chester, IL; 6 Great Grandchildren: Jasiah Ross of Harrisburg, IL; Lunden Fisher of Harrisburg, IL; Atlas Fisher of Harrisburg, IL; Jesse Wright II of Coulterville, IL; Hudson Rudd of Carbondale, IL and Lillie Wright of Carbondale, IL; Sister In Law: Debbie Stucker of Carrier Mills, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her very best friend: Josie Brooks of Harrisburg, IL with whom she shared her love of books. Susan was preceded in death by her parents; 2 Brothers: Kenneth Stucker and Roger Stucker; Sister In Law: Betty Stucker and Former Husband: Gerald Strait.
