Avalon R. Portee, 84 of Maywood, IL formerly of Carrier Mills, IL died Friday October 14, 2016 at 2:04 am at her residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 25, 2016 at 11 am at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Visitation will be held Monday after 10 am until service time. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Pastor Steve Epting will officiate. She was born on April 2, 1932 in Elizabethtown, IL to the late Leonard and Minnie (Barker) Duncan Sr. She married to Paul Miller and he preceded in death. She later married Cecil Portee Sr. on February 7, 1958 and he preceded in death on October 16, 2015. She was a member of Hope Community Church in Chicago, IL She is survived by 6 Children: Paulette (Dennis) Cannon, Terry Miller and Cecil (Renee) Portee Jr. all of Bellwood, IL; Gail (Joe) Miller of Roselle, IL; Anthony (Jaqueline) Portee of Broadview, IL and Adrienne (Rufus) Reed of Oak Park, IL; Brother: Gaylen Duncan of Harrisburg, IL; 2 Sisters: Barbara Duncan of Carrier Mills, IL and Nadine Collins of Lake Villa, IL; several Grandchildren and Great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents, her Husbands, Brother: Leonard Q. Duncan Jr. and 4 Sisters: Ressie Thomas, Mildred Rouse, Juanita Jones and Beulah Bluford.
